We feel great honour that Olav Berstad, Ambassador of Norway and Mr Henning Stirø director of EEA and the Norwegian Mechanism Office (FMO), Mr Stein Mona, Senior Country Officer (FMO), and Ms Rannveig Skofteland (senior consultant, Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Ms. Tímea Ruzsbaczky (Local Programme Officer for EEA and Norway Grants) visited our fermentation company. During the visit, we were able to present with our consortium partners the projects supported by the Norwegian Grants and our achievements so far. During the visit, Mr. Balázs Erdélyi, Managing Director of Fermentia Kft. introduced the company to the honourable guests and then Prof. Károly Márialigeti (ELTE, Department of Microbiology) spoke about our bioremediation project (www.karmentes.weebly.com). Following the demonstration, a good mood discussion spelled out the problems of environmental pollution affecting our countries and their remediation possibilities, the need and importance of biological remediation and the aims and future plans of our research consortium. After the site visit prof László István Lagzi (BUTE, TTK) and Dr. Nóra Adányiné Kisbocskói (NAIK) presented the most important results of the so called BioAuNP project (www.bioaunp.weebly.com). Gold nanoparticled were produced biologically applied thermophilic filamentous fungi strains. We have also been able to demonstrate the method of measuring the immunosensor of mycotoxin QC1-I and OWLS bio-UNP-sensitive mycotoxin B1 using faster, cheaper and more sensitive measurements than before. This visit and our interest in our projects is a great acknowledgment for us, which confirms us that it is worthwhile to believe and act on research and development. We look forward to achieving similarly successful results with our partners in the future. Nagy megtiszteltetésnek érezzük, hogy Őexc. Olav Berstad, a Norvég Királyság magyarországi nagykövete és Mr Henning Stirø EEA és a Norway Grants Finanszírozási Mechanizmus Iroda igazgatója (Financial Mechanism Office, FMO), Mr Stein Mona, (senior country officer, FMO) és Ms Rannveig Skofteland, (senior tanácsadó, norvég Külügyminisztérium), Ms Tímea Ruzsbaczky (EGT és Norvég Alap referens) kíséretében látogatást tett a Fermentia Kft.-nél. A látogatás során konzorciumi partnereinkkel bemutathattuk a Norveg Grants által finanszírozott projektjeinket és eddig elért eredményeinket. A látogatás során Dr. Erdélyi Balázs a Fermentia Kft. A comprehensive on-site inspection was carried out by the Executive Agency of NFFKÜ Zrt. and the Program Operator at Szent István University at Fermentia Kft. The necessary examination of the financial and professional aspects of our project: "Development of an environment-friendly process for the production of gold nanoparticles and their use for biosensor signal amplification" - BioAuNP, HU09-0118-A2-2016 funded by Norway Grants - was conducted. The auditing experts have also learned about the work of the consortium and the research processes, successes and achievements of recent years from lectures by experts from BME, OKI and Fermentia Kft. We are delighted that the results of our work have been considered by the professional reviewers as forward-looking. We are confident that the Consortium, which has been created for the project, will be able to collaborate in further successful research beyond the continuation of BioAuNP. "There are several chemical and physical methods to produce AuNPs, but these have a high energy demand and can be harmful on the environment. On the other side, production of BioAuNPs by microorganisms can be considered a „green” process. During our project we have developed a process for synthesising of AuNPs by thermophilic fungi, and the following purification steps. The produced colloid solutions have been characterized by several analytical methods (UV-VIS spectrophotometry, dynamic light scattering (DLS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM)). The efficiency of the bioAuNPs was verified by the developed measurement method for the BSA – anti-BSA model molecule pair. Then with the application of bioAuNPs a highly sensitive, selective, rapid measurement procedure was elaborated on the detection of aflatoxin B1 mycotoxin from food samples. The process for QCM-I (Quartz Crystal Microbalance) was capable of detecting aflatoxin B1 from spiced paprika matrix in the concentration range of 2-100 ng/ml (IC50=65,6±0,005 ng/mL), with a detection limit of 1 ng/ml. The developed immunosensor for OWLS (Optical Waveguide Lightmode Spectroscopy) system functioned successfully in the concentration range of 0,001-1,000 ng/mL (IC50 0,035±0,005 ng/mL), whereas the sensitivity without AuNP was only 1,000-20,000 ng/mL, which is a remarkable improvement." A Fermentia Kft. telephelyén átfogó projekt záró helyszíni ellenőrzést tartott a Végrehajtó Ügynökség részéről a NFFKÜ Zrt, valamint a Program Operátor részéről a Szent István Egyetem.
A QCM-I (kvarckristály mikromérleg) mérőrendszerrel kialakított immunszenzor dinamikus méréstartománya fűszerpaprika mátrixban 2-100 ng/mL AFB1 koncentráció tartományban van (IC50 65,6±0,005 ng/mL), míg a kimutatási határ 1 ng/mL. Az OWLS (optikai hullámvezető fénymódus spektroszkópia) detektálással kialakított immunszenzor dinamikus méréstartománya 0,001-1,000 ng/mL, IC50 0,035±0,005 ng/mL, mely a AuNP nélkül kialakított szenzor érzékenységéhez képest (1,000-20,000 ng/mL , IC50 8,000±0,460 ng/mL) jelentős javulást jelent. Eredményeink alapján bebizonyosodott, hogy a bioAuNP használata igen előnyös, a QCM-I és OWLS immunszenzor bioAuNP-vel történő érzékenyítése aflatoxin B1 mikotoxin kimutatására gyors, olcsó és a korábbiaknál érzékenyebb mérést tesz lehetővé. Eredményeinkből 3 tudományos cikk, 5 konferencia megjelenés (előadás, poszter) készült. További cikkek előkészítés alatt állnak." The close-out meeting was conducted at Fermentia. Program: 1. Presenting the results achieved, and the developments made by the partners during the timeline of the project, 2. Discussion of the experiment's results 3. Considering the possible research and development choices A Fermentia telephelyén zárórendezvényt tartottunk.
Program: 1. A partnerek által a projekt során elért eredmények, fejlesztések bemutatása, 2. Kísérletek eredményének megvitatása 3. További fejlesztési és kutatási irányok egyeztetése An on-site verification was conducted at Fermentia by a delegation sent by NFFKÜ Zrt. They visited us to supervise the progress we made withour BioAuNP project funded by Norway Grants. During their 5 hour visit they were ascertained that the project is on the right track to a successful closure. The 1st Food Chemistry Conference - Shaping the Future of Food Quality, Health and Safety was organized at the Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky in Amsterdam between 30th October and 1st November, 2016. In the 4 sections 61 presentations were held, and more than 200 posters were displayed. Around 300 researchers form 50 countries attended the event. The attendees showed considerable interest in our posters, many of them were interested in the results of the project, and we discussed further research possibilities.
